Danieli TMB Wire Rod Rolling Technology at Pangang Group
03/04/2010 - Two plants fitted with Twin Module Block® (TMB) technology from Danieli were started up at the end of 2009 at the Pangang Group in P.R. China: Changcheng Special Steels and Chenghdu Iron & Steels.
Two plants fitted with Twin Module Block® (TMB) technology from Danieli were started up at the end of 2009 at the Pangang Group in P.R. China. The TMB system is said to achieve ultra-high finishing speeds in wire rod production with higher plant efficiency, better material yield, stricter product tolerances, and lower production costs.
Changcheng Special Steels Co. Ltd. is a 450,000-tonnes-per-year special steel wire rod mill for production of engineering and stainless steel grades. The new production outlet is equipped with a four-pass TMB high-speed finishing block designed to produce 5.5 to 20-mm-diameter wire rod, at guaranteed rolling speeds of up to 95 m/s into 2.0-tonne coils, with strict end-product size tolerances.
Chenghdu Iron & Steels is a 500,000-tonnes-per-year wire rod mill for production of carbon, welding, cold heading quality, and spring steel quality wire rod coils. This mill also features a four-pass TMB high-speed finishing block, which is designed to produce 5 to 22-mm-diameter (or 6 to 16-mm deformed) wire rod, at guaranteed rolling speeds of up to 100 m/s into 2.3-tonne coils.
Both new wire rod mills are also equipped with the latest-generation Danieli DSC water-cooling system and the oil-film-bearing-type loop layer with associated auxiliaries.
