Danieli Tapped for Upgrades to SDI Galvanizing Line
11/04/2016 - Danieli Fata Hunter has won two contracts for upgrades to the No. 1 galvanizing line at Steel Dynamics Inc.’s Butler, Ind., sheet mill.
According to Danieli, the contracts are for a cleaning section and a post-treatment coating machine, both of which are to be delivered in early 2017.
“This upgrade will allow the line to process a larger variety of substrates and allow Steel Dynamics to maintain its market leadership in the supply of high-quality, metallic-coated steel,” Danieli said in a statement.
The new cleaning section will process cold-rolled sheet in widths of up to 64 inches and base metal thickness of up to 0.165 inches. It will be capable of running at 450 feet per minute. The new post-treatment horizontal coating machine, which replaces an existing unit, is equipped with features that will significantly increase the line’s uptime, Danieli said.
