Danieli Tapped for Slab Caster Modernization
10/07/2016 - ArcelorMittal’s Galati steel works in Romania has awarded a contract to Danieli for upgrades to a 38-year-old slab caster, Danieli has announced.
According to Danieli, the project calls for the installation of a new and longer mold; optimization of secondary cooling at the first segment, which is to be replaced; and new Level 1 and Level 2 automation systems.
Danieli said the project is intended to reduce slab defects, such as flaking and spider cracks.
The work will be performed during a 21-day shutdown, scheduled for September 2017.
