Danieli recently completed commissioning of the new, 300,000 tonne/year bar and wire rod mill at Thai Nguyen I&S Co. (Tisco), Vietnam, with startup of the straight bars production line.

The new plant's design, which is based on high-speed finishing rolling of both straight bars and wire rod, makes it one of the most advanced rolling mills for commercial long products in the region. Straight bars are delivered onto cooling bed through the high-speed Twin Channel bar breaking and discharging system, while wire rod is processed on-line in a DSC controlled-cooling line. Danieli Automation supplied the electricals and automation system, while Danieli Centro Combustion supplied the walking hearth reheating furnace.

The new mill will produce 10- to 36-mm diameter plain and deformed bars and 5.5- to 12-mm diameter quality wire rod in coils.

Tisco has been operating the wire rod portion of the new line since February of this year.
