Danieli Revamps Ori Martin Billet Caster
12/01/2004 - Danieli recently completed a major revamp of Ori Martin's 5-strand billet caster for engineering steels. The upgrade was undertaken with the objective of improving billet quality. Operation restarted successfully at the end of September 2004.
Danieli recently completed a major revamp of Ori Martin's 5-strand billet caster for engineering steels. The upgrade was undertaken with the objective of improving billet quality. Operation restarted successfully at the end of September 2004.
Machine modification included a new bigger-size Delta-type tundish and tundish car; complete package for submerged stream casting with stopper rod; new moulds set; and modification to the hydraulic oscillating tables, curve's structures and to the secondary cooling system.
The caster produces 140- by 140-mm-billets in a wide range of quality and engineering steels.
