Using its Q-Space1 augmented reality platform, Danieli Automation was able to complete factory acceptance tests from its headquarters in Italy, the company said.

“With travel restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the teams from Danieli Automation and Nucor Steel Gallatin made the most of the platform’s use of augmented, mixed and virtual reality. They were able to connect through a combination of live video, audio and annotations of the live shared view. Both teams were able to share the same application software tools in real time, providing clarification on the structure of various control functions,” Danieli said. 

The system is being installed as part of the expansion of Nucor’s Gallatin sheet mill, a project that will convert the facility to a Danieli QSP plant.
