Danieli Lands Rolling Mill Contract
11/05/2020 - Danieli has been awarded a contract to build a high-speed bar rolling mill for Korea Steel Shapes Co., the equipment supplier has announced.
According to Danieli, the rolling mill will be linked to the company’s Danieli-built 5-strand caster and meltshop, making it the first complete Danieli mini-mill in South Korea. The mill will produce deformed bar in diameters ranging from 10 mm to 57 mm.
Danieli said it will be comprised of 16 housingless stands; a 2-strand intermediate mill; and two 4-pass, multi-drive high-speed twist-free finishing blocks.
“In this way, smaller bar sizes will be produced on two strands at very high speed, fully exploiting the mill’s capacity for the whole product range,” Danieli said.
The mill also will feature Danieli process control technology, including a Danieli Automation Q-Heat induction heater stationed after the caster.
“With zero emissions for billet reheating, Danieli Direct Casting Rolling technology fulfills the demand for high efficiency and energy savings and will allow KOSCO to drop CO2 emissions whilst improving material yield up to 98%,” Danieli said.
