Danieli said one of the contracts is for a new wire rod rolling line; the other is for a new six-pass bar and wire rod fast-finishing block.

The wire rod line will produce reinforced steel wire in diameters of 8 mm to 14 mm and smooth wire in diameters of 5.5 mm to 16 mm. It will process low- to medium-carbon steel and prestressed concrete bar. 

The fast-finishing block will be installed laterally to an existing Danieli bar and wire rod mill. The configuration effectively splits two rolling units into two independent mills and will increase the facility’s overall production capacity, Danieli said.
