According to Danieli, the project is meant to replace the existing 224-ton unit. Danieli will build the converter vessel and trunnion ring in Danieli Corus–certified workshops, and components and segments will be shipped to the mill for pre-assembly. 

“The new equipment will incorporate several improvements compared to the existing design, mostly with the objective of achieving the longest possible converter lifetime,” Danieli said. 

The first heat is scheduled for the summer of 2024. This will be the fourth Danieli Corus BOF converter project in Brazil, the company said.
