Danieli Fröhling recently installed four SHD-PD 1000 new-generation polishing devices, including a dust exhaust system, for the skinpass mill at Thyssen Krupp Nirosta (TKN) in Düsseldorf.

The 1,000-mm wide heads of the devices can be used either in position control or in pressure control mode. The various adjusting elements, together with an additional edge exhaust system, ensure an optimal polishing result.

With the new heavy-duty polishing devices, working in an abrasive manner, the work roll service period can be doubled or even tripled, facilitating a significant reduction in the quantity of working stock. The equipment has also resulted in improved product quality and plant productivity.

After final acceptance of theses devices at TKN, Danieli Fröhling received a new order for further two polishing devices with 1,000-mm head width for Tangshan Iron & Steel, P.R. China.
