Danieli Completes Meltshop Projects at Feng Hsin and Asil Celik

Danieli recently completed a meltshop expansion project at Feng Hsin, Taiwan.

Expansion of the Houli, Taichung, steelmaking plant mainly consisted of installation of a new conticaster and new ladle furnace. The two facilities were started up at the end of February and at the end of April 2005, respectively.

The 9-meter radius curved-type caster is designed for casting 130-, 150- and 160-mm construction steel billets and is provided for the future production of special steels. Provision was also made for direct connection with the rolling mill reheating furnace for hot charging operation.

The 35/70-tonne inert-roof ladle furnace features automatic sampling and temperature measurement, Danieli Automation HIReg® system and extended Level 1 and 2 automation and process control systems.

Danieli also recently started up a new EAF at Asil Çelik, Turkey. The 70-tonne Danarc EAF has a 5.3-meter shell and is served by a 50 MVA +20% transformer. The furnace is equipped with burners and oxygen lance.

The facility will produce high quality alloyed and non-alloyed hot rolled long products for the automotive and machine manufacturing industry.
