Danieli Awarded Bar Mill Contract, Completes Upgrade to Wire Rod Plant

In a statement, Danieli said the mill will be designed to make 12- to 40-mm rebar at speeds of up to 240 tons per hour.

The mill will be based on four SHS housingless stands followed by two 4-pass finishing blocks.

“Through an advanced multi-strand slit-rolling system, rebar will be rolled on two strands at finishing speed higher than 40 m/second. On-line water cooling will ensure a final product with ultrafine grain structure,” Danieli said.

In other Danieli news, the company said it has completed an upgrade to the Pittini Group's Acciaierie Di Verona plant in Italy.

During a three-week outage, Danieli said improvements to the wire rod plant included installation of a second compactor and fans for coil treatment. The plant annually produces 750,000 metric tons of plain and deformed wire rod ranging from 5.5 mm to 21.5 mm in diameter.

“This project represents the 500th rolling mill completed by the Danieli team. It includes all the latest H³ equipment, processes and technologies, including 'Cube' ESS cantilever compact stands, Danieli Structure control for on-line heat treatment and Twin-Module Block for finishing speeds of up to 100 m/second with strict end-product size tolerances and ovality,” Danieli said.
