Crane Manufacturer Names New CEO
07/31/2015 - Panu Routila has been appointed president and CEO of Konecranes Plc. and is to begin his new duties sometime by the end of the year, the Finnish crane and hoist manufacturer has announced.
Routila will succeed Pekka Lundmark, who is leaving Konecranes in September to pursue other opportunities, the company said.
Routila is being lured away from Ahlstrom Capital, where he has served as president and CEO since 2008. Ahlstrom Capital is one of Finland’s largest investment companies, with annual net sales exceeding EUR 1.5 billion.
Routila also has served as board chairman for Vacon Plc., a manufacturer of AC drives, and he has held industrial management positions at Kuusakoski Group, Alteams and Outokumpu, the company said. Additionally, he served in leading financial positions at Outokumpu and Partek Group in Finland, France, and the U.S., the company said.
“Panu Routila has firm experience in top management of industrial enterprises. As the previous chairman of Ahlstrom Capital, I have known and worked closely with him during several years," said Konecranes board chairman Stig Gustavson.
"Because of a conflict of interest, I could not participate in the selection process. I am in total agreement with my board´s choice. I am looking forward to continuing my successful collaboration with Panu Routila," he said.
