Court Allows Ilva Blast Furnace to Remain in Service
01/10/2020 - The No. 2 blast furnace at ArcelorMittal’s Ilva steel works in Italy can keep operating, an Italian court has ruled, according to reports.
According to the Reuters news service, the decision removes a potential obstacle in ongoing talks between ArcelorMittal and the Italian government. ArcelorMittal said in November it planned to back out of its deal to acquire the plant and hand back the keys to the government.
The company and the government have since opened discussions on a new path forward.
