Coronavirus Stalls China’s Manufacturing Sector in February
03/02/2020 - China’s manufacturers saw record declines in new orders, output and employment last month as the coronavirus outbreak slowed the world’s second largest economy.
According to the independent Caixin China General Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index, the February reading fell to 40.3, the lowest reading since the survey began in April 2004.
However, manufacturers believe activity will rebound once measure meant to contain the virus are lifted. In fact, one gauge that measures sentiment on output over the next 12 months rose to a five-year high in February, according to Caixin.
