Danieli Corp. recently contracted Core Furnace Systems (CORE) to design and supply a Consteel® system for a new Commercial Metals Co. (CMC) facility, to be located in Mesa, Ariz.
In the Consteel continuous steelmaking process, scrap and other raw materials and preheated and fed directly into the EAF via a patented conveying system that penetrates the furnace through the EAF sidewall. Consteel will be an important component of the continuous mill operation that Danieli and CMC have worked together to develop.
The CMC project will increase the number of Consteel facilities worldwide to 23 and will represent the seventh installation in the United States. Although the new CMC facility will use the Consteel process to produce reinforcing bar, other Consteel-based facilities produce flat, long and special steel products.
CORE is a leader in the design and supply of meltshop equipment. CORE also designs and supplies reheat, heat treating, specialty and carbon processing furnaces as well as technical services and automation systems.
Within the Nafta market, CORE is the exclusive licensee for Consteel, a proprietary technology of Techint SpA.
