Core to Provide Consteel System for Estructurales Corsa Minimill
04/16/2008 - Danieli contracts Core Furnace Systems to design and supply a Consteel system for a new 1 million tonne/year minimill that Danieli will construct in Mexico for Estructurales Corsa.
Danieli Corp. recently contracted Core Furnace Systems to design and supply a Consteel® system for a new 1 million tonne/year minimill that Danieli will construct in Mexico for Estructurales Corsa, a joint venture between the Gerdau Group and Aceros Corsa.
The Consteel continuous steelmaking process preheats and feeds scrap and other raw materials directly and continuously into the EAF via a patented conveying system through the EAF sidewall. The process captures energy from EAF off-gases to provide energy for the scrap and raw material preheating.
The project represents the first Consteel installation in Mexico and the eighth in North America. There are over 30 Consteel installations worldwide representing a combined total production of more than 15 million tons of steel per year.
Core is a leading designer and supplier of meltshop equipment. Core also designs and supplies reheat, heat treating, specialty and carbon processing furnaces as well as technical services and automation systems.
The company is the exclusive licensee for Consteel in the NAFTA market. Consteel is proprietary technology of Tenova SpA and has been proven to be the most reliable preheating and continuous charging system available.
