Construction Begins on New U.S. Refractories Plant
06/12/2017 - Refractories manufacturer HarbisonWalker International has broken ground on its planned US$30 million monolithic refractories plant in Ohio, the company has announced.
Designed to produce 80,000 metric tons annually, the advanced plant is being built at The Point Industrial Park in South Point, Ohio. It is to come online early next year.
“Our new South Point Plant exemplifies the future of our company and in many ways, the future of the U.S. refractories industry. We’re leveraging our 150 years of leadership and expertise to reinvent how we produce and deliver quality monolithic products,” said chairman and chief executive Stephen Delo.
“The new plant will have a positive impact on product consistency and quality, availability, ordering, packaging and support,” he added.
The company said the plant will incorporate state-of-the-art automation and technology as well as lean production techniques.
