Concast AG has received an order from Jindal Steel & Power for a new six-strand Convex Technology® continuous caster for its Raigarh plant in central India.
The new caster will produce 1 million tons per year of mild and high-carbon steel grades, as well as ball bearing and free cutting steel grades, in a variety of both square and round sections. The investment is part of Jindal’s strategic plan to increase its total steel production over the next two years to nearly 3 million tonnes per year.
The Convex Technology caster uses a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment, including Concast’s tundish stopper control system, Concast electromagnetic stirrers and torch-cutting equipment with sample cutting. Concast will also provide complete process automation and Level 2 quality tracking.
Start-up of the new caster is scheduled for early in 2006.
