Company Reveals Plans for Pittsburgh-Area Rebar Mill

During an event Tuesday at the Aliquippa, Pa., USA, site, 72 Steel chairman Huabin Lin said the US$218 million project is being driven by the Biden Administration’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which aims to rebuild aging infrastructure.

“Our project will also drive the development of the industrial supply chain of surrounding cities and continue to reinforce Pittsburgh — once regarded as the ‘Steel Capital’ — as a place where manufacturing of steel, metals, and many other materials and products is thriving,” Huabin said.

The project is to be built on a 44-acre site along the Ohio River, where the J&L Aliquippa Works’ tin mill once stood. However, site acquisition has yet to close.
