Company Investing $125M in New U.S. OCTG Mill
11/03/2015 - A company is planning to build a new OCTG mill in Norfolk, Neb., USA, and expects to begin production in 2017, according to reports.
According to the Lincoln Journal Star newspaper, the company, OCT Pipe LLC, plans to make seamless tube at a new 1-million-square-foot facility. Site preparation is to begin this month, the newspaper said. The mill will be capable of producing 350,000 tons annually.
The Norfolk Daily News newspaper said the company is investing US$125 million in the project, which will source rounds from Nucor Steel-Nebraska.
The company said it plans to market drilling and production pipe to the major exploration and production companies throughout the United States. An international division also will sell into Africa and Asia, the newspaper said.
Norfolk was the chosen site of a tubular mill proposed by Tejas Tubular Products in 2014. That project, however, was put on hold earlier this year on account of the weakness in the energy markets.
