Commercial Metals Adds Scrap Capacity in Southeastern U.S.
01/12/2017 - A subsidiary of long products manufacturer Commercial Metals Co. has an agreement to acquire seven scrap facilities from OmniSource Corp., the company has announced.
The facilities, which process both ferrous and nonferrous scrap and are all located in the southeastern U.S., are close to CMC’s Cayce, S.C., mini-mill.
"The signing of the asset purchase agreement for the acquisition of these facilities continues CMC's focus on supporting our mill operations with a reliable, low-cost source of raw material. These locations will support our Cayce, S.C., mini-mill, and we expect to realize synergies with our existing operations in the region," said CMC executive vice president Tracy Porter.
OmniSource is a subsidiary of Steel Dynamics Inc.
