Commerce Department OKs Duties on Stainless Sheet, Strip From China
02/03/2017 - The U.S. Department of Commerce has affirmed tariffs of at least 139.5% on stainless sheet and strip from China.
In a final ruling issued Thursday, the department set anti-dumping duties of 63.9% on products from certain producers and 76.6% on the others in the country. Additionally, it set anti-subsidy duties of 75.6% and 190.7%.
The case will now go the U.S. International Trade Commission for final approval.
The case arose on a complaint filed last year from AK Steel Corp., Allegheny Technologies Inc. and Outokumpu Stainless USA.
According to the Commerce Department, imports of Chinese-made stainless sheet and strip more than doubled between 2013 and 2015, rising to 133,500 metric tons. Those imports were valued at US$301.7 million, according to the department.
