Commerce Department Might Expand Anti-Subsidy Duties on Turkish Rebar
02/22/2017 - The U.S. Commerce Department has set preliminary anti-subsidy duties on Turkish rebar, potentially expanding orders on an existing case.
The Commerce Department announced Wednesday that it has set a preliminary countervailing duty of 3.47% on rebar produced by one Turkish company -- Habaş Sinai ve Tibbi Gazlar Istihsal Endüstrisi A.Ş. The company was the only Turkish rebar producer excluded from anti-subsidy orders that were imposed in 2014.
The preliminary ruling pertains to rebar imported in straight lengths or coils, regardless of metallurgy, length, diameter or grade. The case arose on a complaint from the Rebar Trade Action Coalition: Byer Steel Group Inc., Commercial Metals Co., Gerdau, Nucor Corp. and Steel Dynamics Inc.
Final determinations are due late this spring and early summer.
