Coking Coal Mine Reopens in West Virginia
07/17/2018 - JSW Steel Ltd.’s idled coking coal mines in West Virginia, USA, are now back in operation, according to The Hindu BusinessLine newspaper.
The mines had been shuttered three years ago following a downturn in coking coal prices, but with the price of coke now reaching US$200 a ton and healthy demand expected the mines have resumed production. The company plans to eventually increase production to 1 million metric tons per year, said JSW Steel joint managing director Seshagiri Rao to the BusinessLine.
