Coil Exports Begin Shipping From New Tata Steel Works
09/16/2016 - Tata Steel’s new Kalinganagar works has reached another milestone as ramps up operations, shipping its first hot-rolled coils for the export market.
In a statement, Tata said the shipment of about 3,000 metric tons left the steel works on 14 September and was destined for key customers in Nepal.
“Tata Steel has set itself an ambitious export target from its Kalinganagar plant to cater to various segments. The products from Kalinganagar have been very well received in the market and the ramp up is on schedule both in terms of quantity and quality,” the company said in a statement.
The integrated facility began commercial production in May. It is being developed in two stages and ultimately will have 6 million metric tons of capacity.
The facility recently began exporting batches of Tata Steel's new granulated pig iron, Tata Ferroshots.
