CMC Upgrades Electrical Supply to Ladle Furnace
06/22/2022 - Commercial Metals Company has replaced the ladle furnace transformer at its Mesa, Ariz., USA, micro-mill, swapping it out for a Danieli-built digital power feeder.
In a statement, Danieli said the Q-One digital power feeder was seamlessly commissioned.
The equipment allow furnaces to operate at variable frequencies. In fact, Danieli said, the equipment was tested down to 20 Hz.
“As already experienced in previous installations, the use of low frequencies made it possible to achieve better energy performances, with constant power factor of 0.96 and minimum disturbances on the power grid,” Danieli said.
