CMC Steel Group Names Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration

Commercial Metals Co. announced that Bob Unfried was named as Executive Vice President—Finance and Administration for the CMC Steel Group.
In his new position, Bob Unfried will be responsible for accounting, credit, information technology, environment, employee benefits, and risk management functions. He will report to Clyde Selig, President and CEO of the CMC Steel Group.
Bob Unfried served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, and attended the University of Texas at Arlington. After receiving his degree in Accounting, he joined Touche Ross and Co. (now Deloitte Touche) in Dallas as a senior auditor. In 1980, Bob joined the CMC Steel Group as Assistant Steel Group Controller. He transferred from SMI–Texas when the Birmingham mill was purchased in 1983 and was assigned as Controller.
Bob served in many capacities at SMI–Alabama and significantly contributed to its growth and development over the nearly 20 years he was assigned there. Over the years, he was responsible for all commercial operations and was also very much involved in mill operations. Bob was appointed Vice President and General Manager in 2001 and served in that capacity until his recent promotion. He also had responsibility for Allegheny Heat Treating and Impact Metal Products.
Bob is a member of the AIST, ASM, and the American Institute of CPAs.
