CMC Receives Grant to Open Rebar Facility in Ohio

According to an official press release by Team NEO, CMC’s new facility will be located at the former site of Akron Rebar Co., which ceased operations in 2023. The JobsOhio grant funding will assist in building renovation costs, Team NEO said.

The JobsOhio Revitalization Program provides up to US$5 million in loans and US$1 million in grants for projects intended to redevelop brownfield sites in Ohio, with priority given to projects that create jobs in the region.

Once the site is operational, CMC intends to expand the facility and bring aboard up to 50 new employees within five years, Team NEO said.

“We are excited to welcome CMC to Summit County,” said Summit County Executive Illene Shapiro in a statement. “The County is pleased to be providing critical on-the-job training grant funding to CMC to help the company fill new, good-paying jobs available to our residents.”

“Along with our local partners and JobsOhio, we welcome CMC to expand in the Northeast Ohio Region,” commented Bill Koehler, chief executive of Team NEO. “CMC is known for creating a positive, empowering work culture, as well as an environment where veterans can thrive. We look forward to bringing this spirit to the new employees in our region.”
