CMC Mill Upgrades Furnace Control System
01/13/2020 - Industrial automation specialist Automazioni Industriali Capitanio has been contracted to upgrade a furnace system at Commercial Metals Company's Jacksonville, Fla., USA, mill, the company has announced.
In a statement, AIC said it will revamp the level 1 combustion control system on a rolling mill reheat furnace there. The contact scope includes the design, supply, and commissioning of the electrical and automation system. The new PLC/HMI system will be built on the AB ControlLogix platform,
“This is the first part of an upgrade that will allow the plant to improve its performance efficiency and the flexibility of the automation system. One of the targets of this project is to reduce gas consumption and scale at the reheating furnace area,” AIC said in a statement.
The factory acceptance test has already been successfully carried out, and full commissioning is scheduled for February 2020.
