CMC Implements QMOS 10.5 at Seguin Plant
08/06/2008 - Commercial Metals’ Seguin, Texas, plant goes live with Quad Infotech’s QMOS system, making it the first mill to implement the new QMOS version 10.5.
Quad Infotech has added another mill to the QMOS family as Commercial Metals’ Seguin, Texas, plant went live with the QMOS (Quad Mill Operation) system. The installation marked the first mill to implement the new QMOS version 10.5.
The QMOS system offers a modular architecture that allows the user to choose from a wide variety of tools and functions such as sales order entry, rolling mill and meltshop scheduling, inventory management of blooms/billets as well as finished goods, shop management systems, full process monitoring and control, and more. QMOS version 10.5 includes a number of new and easy-to-manage scheduling tools for the Roll and Guide Shops, and new functionality dealing with adding bundles directly into inventory using a hand-held scanner.
The new QMOS system will help CMC Texas better manage and plan their production, and will also allow the facility to gain full visibility into all critical KPIs. The system will also help CMC Texas to streamline the information exchange with CMC’s corporate enterprise SAP system, and to standardize both processes and reports.
The next phase of the project consists of interfacing with CMC’s corporate SAP system.
