CMC Expands Fabrication Operations Through Hawaiian Acquisition
10/26/2016 - A Commercial Metals Co. subsidiary has signed a deal to acquire a Hawaiian rebar fabricator for an undisclosed amount, the company announced on Wednesday.
Through the deal, CMC Steel Fabricators is buying the steel fabrication business of Associated Steel Workers Ltd. It's fabrication business works with uncoated black rebar. It also sells and installs corrosion-resistant coated rebar.
CMC said the acquisition, which is expected to close after 60 days, will expand its reach into Hawaii.
"The signing of the asset purchase agreement for the acquisition of ASW's steel fabrication business continues CMC's vertical integration strategy by extending our geographic reach and establishing a fabrication operation in Hawaii,” said CMC executive vice president Tracy Porter in a statement.
