CMC Celebrates Beginning of Spooler Project
04/30/2018 - Commercial Metals Co. has broken ground on a 63,000-square-foot expansion project at its Mesa, Ariz., USA, micro-mill, where it is adding spooled rebar capabilities.
"We are excited to expand our capabilities to produce and sell spooled rebar from our operations here in Mesa," said Barbara Smith, chairwoman and chief executive.
"The micro mill technology lends itself well to spooled rebar production as CMC remains committed to supporting and servicing the concrete reinforcing industry with new and innovative products," she said.
Commercial Metals announced in November that it would add a spooling line to the facility, giving it the ability to roll up No. 3 to No. 6 rebar in spools of between 1.5 tons and 4.8 tons. The company also is equipping its new micro-mill in Oklahoma with spooling equipment.
