Cliffs Natural Resources Reaches New Labor Agreement with USW in Quebec
12/27/2013 - Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. announced an agreement with the United Steelworkers (SW) union for a new six-year labor contract that will cover approximately 229 represented workers at Cliffs' Pointe Noire operation in Quebec.
The agreement has been ratified by USW local union memberships.
Sean Whiteford, vice president, eastern Canadian iron ore operations, commented, "We are pleased to reach a new labor contract that is fair and equitable to both parties, and provides Cliffs a competitive cost structure for future success. Cliffs' most valuable resource is our employees, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Steelworkers."
