Cleveland-Cliffs Throttles Back Michigan Steel Plant
03/27/2025 - Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. will temporarily idle parts of its Dearborn, Mich., plant and lay off 600 workers this summer, reports The Detroit News.
"These actions will allow the company to operate more efficiently and in a more cost-competitive way for the current market environment," the company said in a statement, according to the newspaper.
"We believe that, once President Trump’s policies take full effect and automotive production is re-shored, we should be able to resume steel production at Dearborn Works."
