Cleveland-Cliffs Promotes New Leadership for Steelmaking and Scrap Recycling Operations
08/30/2021 - Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. has tapped two of its executive personnel to lead its newly reorganized steelmaking and scrap recycling divisions, according to an official press release.
Cliffs executive vice president (EVP) and chief financial officer Keith Koci will now serve as EVP and president of the new Cleveland-Cliffs Services division. In this position, Koci will have general oversight over procurement, logistics, IT and scrap recycling.
Clifford T. Smith, EVP and chief operating officer, has been promoted to EVP and president of Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, which encompasses the company’s steelmaking, tooling and stamping, and tubular components divisions.
Additionally, Celso Goncalves, who currently serves as Cleveland-Cliffs’ senior vice president, finance and treasurer, will take over for Koci in the role of EVP and chief financial officer.
“Today’s announcement represents the formation of the ideal leadership structure for our recently transformed company going forward,” said Cliffs chairman, president and chief executive Lourenco Goncalves. “Cliff Smith, Keith Koci and Celso Goncalves have been critical contributors to our remarkable transformation over the past two years, and I will rely on them to continue to execute on our strategic objectives.”
