Cleveland-Cliffs Pauses Work on Toledo HBI Plant
03/20/2020 - Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is temporarily halting construction at its hot-briquetted iron (HBI) plant in Toledo, Ohio, USA, the company said late Thursday.
In an announcement, the company said it is taking the step in accordance with guidelines from the Ohio governor’s office regarding the COVID-19 virus. All work is to halt by the end of today.
“Cleveland-Cliffs will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will restart construction of the HBI plant as soon as feasible. All other Cleveland-Cliffs iron ore mining and steelmaking facilities will remain in operation,” the company said.
