Chinese Steelmaker Lights New Blast Furnace
01/22/2018 - China’s Shandong Steel Group Rizhao has blown in a new blast furnace and tapped the first batch of hot metal, reports SMS group’s Paul Wurth unit.
According to the blast furnace specialist, the furnace is one of two being built at the Chinese plant. Each furnace features an inner volume of 5,100 m3 and central-feed Bell Less Top charging systems. In addition to the charging system, Paul Wurth supplied the slag granulation technology and designed the coke oven batteries.
The second blast furnace is to be commissioned this summer.
