Chinese Steelmaker Implements New Production Management System
07/09/2019 - China’s MaSteel has gone live with a new production management system that will coordinate activity on 50 lines at five plants, according to the system vendor, PSI Group.
In a statement, PSI said the system, which consists of an integrated planning system and a total quality management system for strip production, went live in May, concluding a two-year implementation project.
The integrated planning system covers the entirety of MaSteel’s planning process for flat and long products. It supports medium- and long-term annual planning, monthly sales planning, due-date-quoting, short- and medium-term production planning, line scheduling, and global order optimization.
The total quality management system contains a metallurgical standards database and quality data warehouse. It also offers whole process quality traceability, among many other things.
Together, the systems are handling 15 million tons’ worth of annual production.
