Chinese Steel Production Sets New Monthly Record
11/14/2018 - China in October produced more steel than did the United States in all of 2017 as mills increased output in advance of mandated wintertime production cuts, according to new production statistics.
According to China’s state news agency, Xinhua, the country produced 82.55 million metric tons of steel during the month, an increase of 9.1% from the same month last year. For comparison, the U.S. made 81.6 million metric tons of crude steel in 2017, according to the World Steel Association.
