Chinese Province Plans Steel Capacity Cuts
03/07/2019 - China’s northern steelmaking province of Hebei plans to lop 14 million metric tons of capacity this year and next in a bid to improve air quality, reports the Reuters news service.
According to Reuters, the cuts were announced by the provincial head of the Chinese Communist Party.
The announcement follows one earlier this year from Hebei’s governor, who said the province also would move to cut 3 million metric tons of coke capacity, 10 million metric tons of coal capacity and 1 million metric tons of cement capacity.
