Chinese Mill Issues Acceptance Certificate on Caster Upgrades
12/07/2017 - China’s Changzhou Zhongtian Iron & Steel has signed off on upgrades to a continuous bloom caster at its mill, according to the equipment supplier on the project.
According to Primetals Technologies, the caster was modified to allow for production of 280 x 320 mm rectangular blooms. Primetals was responsible for the engineering of a new mold and of the first two segments of the strand guide. The company also supplied new spray nozzles and side guides.
In addition, the straightening unit, the dummy bars and the run-out area were modified.
The caster has an annual production of around 1.3 million metric tons.
