Chinese Induction Furnaces Find New Life in Other Asian Countries
12/18/2018 - In 2017, China said it lopped about 120 million metric tons of production capacity by closing induction furnaces at more than 600 companies.
But more than a year on, equipment that might have otherwise been destined for the scrap heap is being hauled outside the country and brought back on-line in some parts of Southeast Asia, reports the Reuters news service.
“The rebar market is under attack from (induction furnace) producers,” Roberto Cola, president of the Philippine Iron and Steel Institute, tells Reuters.
