China Challenges Section 232 Tariffs
04/10/2018 - China has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) over U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25% tariff on imported steel and 10% tariff on imported aluminum.
In a filing with the WTO, China said the tariffs violate WTO rules and is requesting 60 days of consultations with the U.S. If the consultations fail to yield a resolution, the matter could be put before a panel for adjudication.
Meanwhile, China President Xi Jinping said his country will look to make its economy more open and plans to significantly lower tariffs on imported automobiles, reports public broadcaster NPR.
"China's door of opening up will not be closed and will only open wider," he said, speaking during business forum held Tuesday in China.
