Chilean Producer to Study H2 Steelmaking
03/16/2021 - Chile’s Compañia Siderúrgica Huachipato SA (CSH) has signed a technological cooperation agreement with Paul Wurth to explore a shift to low-carbon steelmaking.
Under the agreement, the companies will undertake a feasibility study examining the potential for a low-carbon process route shift.
“The transition plan aims at setting up immediate measures to reduce the CO2 footprint of CSH’s operations by introducing the use of renewable energy and hydrogen combined with highly efficient technologies. This transformation process will thus lead to a product portfolio for green steel grades,” the companies said in a statement.
