CCR Technologies to Streamline Ladle Movement at Nucor’s Auburn Meltshop
10/30/2007 - Nucor Steel recently awarded a contract to CCR Technologies to design and supply a Ladle Turret System for the continuous casting machine at Nucor’s Auburn, N.Y., meltshop.
Nucor Steel recently awarded a contract to CCR Technologies Inc. of Stoney Creek, Ont., Canada, to design and supply a Ladle Turret System for the continuous casting machine at the company’s Auburn, N.Y., facility.
The new ladle turret system will help to reduce hot metal handling time for the Auburn meltshop, which has only one ladle crane. The new Ladle Rotating system will also allow the facility to eliminate lifting the hot metal ladle by crane over the casting deck.
According to CCR Technologies, the design of this Ladle Turret System will be very unique in that it does not use traditional center column support and slewing bearing.
CCR Technologies will install the new ladle turret system during a one-week shut-down at the end of 2007.
