Cascade Steel Upgrades Oregon Rolling Mill
12/21/2015 - Danieli has won a contract to modernize the finishing end of Cascade Steel Rolling Mill’s Oregon rebar facility, the company has announced.
According to Danieli, the project’s goal is to improve bundle quality and to increase system throughput to 150 short tons per hour.
Through the project, Danieli will replace the mill’s existing lance-type bundler with its patented Perfect Forming and Bundling (PFB) system, which will employ existing transfer tables but will incorporate fast retractable lances that stack bars in bundle-forming pockets.
“The extraordinary result of this process is a bundle without any tangled bars – a high-quality, perfectly formed and aligned bundle. This means that each bundle is 100% saleable in any size and weight,” Danieli said in a statement.
“When the (bundle) ties are cut, the bars remain neat and tidy and are ready to be loaded into the processing machines. This drastically reduces the time needed to prepare the bundle thus significantly increasing productivity,” the company said.
In addition to the bundle-forming pockets and a fast lance group, Danieli also will supply a runout roller table with vertical idle rollers, five new SUND wire-tying machines, and automation and electrical equipment.
The project is to be completed by mid-2016.
Cascade Steel Rolling Mills is one of the largest rebar producers on the U.S. West Coast.
