Cargill Sells U.S. Service Centers
09/11/2017 - Cargill Inc. has agreed to sell its U.S. steel processing and distribution business to Japan’s Metal One Corp.
Cargill didn’t give a sale price, but said that Metal One would acquire its supply chain operation, which includes eight processing facilities: one each in Windsor, Colo.; Panama City, Fla.; East Chicago, Ind.; Tulsa, Okla.; and Loudon, Tenn.; and two in Granite City, Ill.
Metal One said it will establish a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary to manage the new business, which will allow it to expand and diversify its U.S. operations.
“This acquisition will be a great strategic fit with our current asset base in North America,” Metal One president and chief executive Shuichi Iwata said.
“We will provide continuous support for the excellent customer and supplier relationships that Cargill has established in the U.S. metals market, and we look forward to leveraging the acquired business to further enhance our presence in the U.S.”
