Carbon Reduction Efforts Could Drive Big Changes in Chinese Steel Industry
03/04/2021 - With China’s annual parliamentary meetings getting underway today in Beijing, the country’s steel industry could see a number of important policy changes, reports commodities news and pricing service S&P Global Platts.
Citing research from its analytics unit, Platts said China’s effort to achieve carbon neutrality could drive a series of policy changes related to steel production, steel export rebates, scrap utilization and development of electric arc furnaces. An emissions quota trading system may also be introduced, it said.
Platts has a preview of the meetings, known as the Two Sessions, here.
