Caparo Industries' CEO Dies After Falling From Penthouse Flat

Angad Paul, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene in central London, reported the The Guardian newspaper. Authorities said they are investigating, but are not treating his death as suspicious.

Caparo Industries, which comprises about 20 individual businesses, is involved in steelmaking and engineering. It is part of an international network of businesses under the Caparo name. In addition to steel, Caparo businesses are involved in product development, hotels, media, furniture and interior design, financial services, energy, and private equity investment.

Sixteen of Caparo Industries’ units were placed into administration in October, leaving roughly 1,200 jobs in question. Another 450 positions already have been eliminated.

The business was started by Paul’s father, Lord Swraj Paul, who founded it in 1968, according to The Telegraph newspaper. The company began as a producer of pipes for the gas industry and in time grew into an international business, making him one of the country’s wealthiest people.
